Learn to recognize correct and incorrect stroke techniques and turns and finishes, how and when to write DQ slips, and more.
The Stroke and Turn Clinic is required each year for anyone in your club who will be serving as a stroke and turn judge. In the past, we have not made exceptions for current USA officials, primarily because there were significant differences in the 2 sets of stroke rules. Recognizing that the differences are fewer now, we'd like to make an exception this season on a trial basis. This year attendance by currently certified USA, YMCA, and NCAA officials is optional.
In lieu of attendance, a current USA/YMCA/NCAA certified official may register for TSA certification with Ira Planer, TSA Vice-president, by e-mail, iplaner@nc.rr.com. Ira will communicate rule differences to these judges and that will certify them for this season. The deadline for these individuals to notify Ira is May 25. When Ira distributes the list of TSA certified stroke and turn judges, it will include everyone who attended a clinic and those USA/YMCA/NCAA officials who registered by email before May 25.
Remember, in accordance with the rules, teams without a certified Stroke and Turn must notify the opposing TSA Representative that they don't have a Certified Stroke and Turn Judge. As qualified as possible volunteer will be solicited (from either team.)
The recommended order of qualification is listed below in order of highest to lowest.
1. Certified TSA (this includes this year's clinic attendees and USA/YMCA/NCAA officials who registered by e-mail)
2. Certified USA/YMCA/NCAA official
3. Certified High School official
4. Former USA/YMCA/NCAA official
5. Former High School official
6. Former TSA official
